GSAPP F'06. IMMEDIACY

The temporal insistence of immediacy demands the confidence to think out loud, the liberty to produce and interact with fresh ideas… to innovate… to create and celebrate both spatial and non-spatial possibility. Design requires an ability to conceive things never before experienced, an acute awareness of nuances in the everyday—a propensity to contemplate and cope with complex issues, coupled with a perpetual desire to shape new realities. We grapple with and transform ideas, information, emotion, and material-- simultaneously. We assert that concept, form, and content all matter, and are interrelated rather than at odds. These synaptic conduits of exploration foster projects that are innovative and vividly unorthodox without undermining a discerning social pragmatism.
